Default 2 Tiller Seats???

In the October 2009 issue of The PA Fireman there is a 2 page ad for apparatus for sale from Fire Trucks Plus. On the 2nd page at the top there is a 1991 Seagrave 110' TDA. The ad says it has "2- Rear Tiller Seats". I went on to the sellers website and it doesnt appear the rig is for sale anymore as I could not find it. The picture is not the best but the tiller cab does appear to be wider than normal. Has anyone ever seen anything like this before? My question is how does it work? 2 steering wheels, for 2 tillermen?(that would be scary) Or just one driver and someone sitting beside him? If that is the case how does the driver see both sides of the trailer? Unless the steering wheel is still in the center and the 2nd seat is to one of the sides? Or maybe it is just a misprint? Anyone?

Thanks

There were certain manufacturers that have toyed with the two seat option as a "training seat". This would allow new trainees or driver trainers a place to sit inside the cab with the tillerman.

I think Clinton MD had a tiller a few years ago with 2 seats in the tiller box

I know the tiller that Gladwyne Fire Company in MontCo bought from KME has a "slide-in" second tiller seat for training. It can be folded when not in use. That may be what this company had as well.

If it was red and black it could have been Leesburg VA old training truck. They bought a former Richmond tiller as a training rig and had a second seat installed for driver/tillerman training while their new seagrave tiller was being built. There was an article or pictures somewhere about it.

It was red and white. Thanks all for info, I never heard or saw a tiller with 2 seats in the back. I never really gave thought to a training seat or how dept's train. Figure you just started out in a parking lot by yourself.
